Mindflex–featuring a headset that reads your brain waves and a levitating foam ball–is the kind of game that must be seen to be believed. Recommended for players aged eight and older, the game begins when you strap on the headset so you can use your powers of concentration to move the ball around the game console and through a mind-bending obstacle course. A dial-in console lets you to keep the ball lifted on a cushion of air, but raising and lowering the ball must be accomplished by alternating concentrating and relaxing your mind

Going Mental

With the Star Wars Force Trainer Star Wars Science – Force Trainer, you use mental power to move a ball up and down in a clear tube. MindFlex is a much better deal, as you can play five games at three different difficulty levels, as well as customize the obstacle course.

What is MindFlex? A stream of air keeps a small foam ball aloft. When you concentrate, the ball rises, when you relax, it lowers. A control knob lets you move the stream of air around a circular path, and under various obstacles and challenges you’ve set up.

How to play: Turn the control knob so the stream of air is under the calibration point, directly in front of the control knob. Put the see-saw piece over this point (this is all clearly and simply explained in the 35 page instruction manual). Turn on the on-off switch on the side of the console. A voice directs you to put on the headband and tells you when the wireless headband is synced to the console.

You can put as many other pieces on the console circular pathway as you like, however you like. Push the “Select” button and the voice says which game you’re on. The five games are: 1. Freestyle: for one player, great for practicing, any course you design; 2. Mental Marathon: for one to four players. Set up the course as you like. The console times your travel around the board. Compete with others or try to beat your best time; 3. Danger Zone: a timed obstacle game with a course you design; Chase the Lights: A timed game in which you follow a course of blinking lights on the console; Thoughtshot: A timed game for one or multiple players with various levels of difficulty.

The console and pieces are very well made. The console is very tech, with sensor lights to show the concentration level, as well as lights that chase around the console, spacey sounds, and a relaxing voice. Save the box, because the pieces can be easily stored in the two smaller boxes that fit in the main box. Much of the information is also on the back of the box, in large, clear print, mainly what the various colors and modes of the “status” light signify. If you lose the instruction manual, you can download a free PDF file from the Mindflex website.

This game is very well packaged, and very intuitive. I gave it to a young boy who wasn’t able to read the instruction manual, but from the pictures and the box graphics, he soon had it up and running. I had to hold his hair off his forehead while he put on the headband, and clipped the two clips to his ears. A Mindflex logo on the band goes above your left eye, which makes for easy positioning. The headband takes three alkaline AAA batteries, and the console, four alkaline C batteries. There are also extra foam balls, easily stored in the small boxes included. Here’s a very tech, hands-on game that will fascinate any curious, creative kid (or adult), and at Amazon’s amazing price, what are you waiting for

Thank you

It was a present. My distant family enjoyed it. Sorry, cannot add more.

Mindflex Game

I bought this game for my niece who turned 8; she begged and begged for it. This toy is fascinating. The only uncomfortable part about it is the magnet digs into your forehead pretty hard. The kids didn’t seem to mind at all, but the adults who all tried it, did complain about it. Overall this toy kept the children’s attention for hours, and could even be controlled in another room, simply amazing. It was a little pricey and I’m not sure if I would spend the money again
